The Mangrove

Mangroves are everywhere in Florida Keys. However, there is this one mangrove at Anne’s Beach in Islamorada that just stands out. It’s right on the water and seems like it’s just posing to be photographed.

I was there in the middle of the day when the sun was up right over my head—not really an ideal condition to photograph anything. However, I’m not a person who gives up easily. So I chose my spot and got ready to take the shot—just a tree in the middle of turquoise blue and emerald-green water. However, when I was about to press my shutter button two beauties in their barely there bikinis emerged from behind the tree. My jaw dropped and my finger froze. It was so unexpected that it took me a while to regain my composure. As I regained my senses I waved at them and made an international signal to get out of my way. They looked at my raised thumb and probably thought I was appreciating how hot they looked and started posing for me.

OK, now my last resort was to raise my voice and let them know how great they looked but I was really trying to take the photo of the tree with no people around. I could tell from the look on their faces that they were disappointed, but soon enough they moved out of my way. I know some of you might think I’m dumb for not taking the photo of the pretty ladies tree hugging, but my mind just works in a serial mode and I do everything to get the shot that I’m after. In this case it was just the tree with no people around.
