My City

The last couple of weeks have been difficult for me as a photographer. I’ve been living for many years in a land surrounded by hills and forests—with hundreds of lakes and thousands of waterfalls. A land where sunrise and sunsets paints the sky with almost every imaginable color. A land where the cosmic tail of the Milky Way dips over the horizon. It was a rude shock being back in my city—the city where I was born.

Today when I took this shot looking down from a footbridge, my heart was filled with joy—the same joy that fills me when I shoot the most beautiful places on Earth. I still haven’t found the beauty that I’ve found elsewhere and probably never will in this city—a city covered in smog. But it’s my city; I know it more than I’ve known any other place. I will find home and home will find me. What can be more beautiful?
