It was a breezy Christmas night in Sydney—a city that keeps growing on me. I decided to check out the light show at St Mary’s Cathedral as it was the last day of the show.
When I reached the venue, the show was about to begin. There wasn’t any space in the galleries, so people practically spilled over to the sidewalks. Luckily, far back just behind the water fountain of Cook + Phillip Park, I found the spot I was looking for. The shimmering lights on water looked like a perfect setting!
The visual treat followed soon. The show adorned Sydney’s grandest cathedral with projections from a selection of “Madonna and Child” paintings from some of the greatest masters including Fra Filipo Lippi, Fra Angelico, Petrus Christus, and Sassoferrato.
Seeing the work of great masters come alive, on the wall of St Mary’s, is probably how I’m going to remember that breezy Christmas night for a long time to come.
Wow!
