Faces never seem to fade away. It continuously amazes me how faces over time stay with me … stay in my memory. Faces of my family and friends, faces at work, faces at the subway, faces at the airports, faces that I see while traveling to foreign places—faces that I see with every step I take in my journey through life. I think I’ve developed an endless fascination of connecting with people’s eyes. The Bard said “the eyes are the window to your soul.” It seems I enjoy peering into the soul.
All of this fascination inspires me to capture faces and document them in my Faces portfolio. It also inspired me to start the ‘Face of the Month’ series of blogs.
Face of the month for June is of Stephanie. Look at her emerald-green eyes and see if you can peer into her soul.
Apart from her Emerald- Green eyes, what also attracts me is the faint “smile” on her lips. What does this smile “say”—-happiness, sadness, taunting or something else. Does it not remind the famous picture of “Monalisa”?
I’m glad that you noticed the smile. I said something funny and she was cracking up. The expressions were great but the images were a little blurry. Then I told her to stop laughing to get a sharp image. She did a good job controlling her laughter but only a hint of a smile remained and I snapped it up.
I love to look at laughing faces. It makes me happy to see other people happy. This is a beautiful picture but I bet the pictures of her laughing have a little something extra, even if they are a little blurry.
You’re so right! I love those blurry and happy faces. Maybe I’ll publish them in a separate portfolio someday.
